Book Review: Under the Dome

By Stephen King

Rating: 5 stars.

This book joins several other “epic” (in length and feel of story) novels on my summer reading list this year.  My common critique of King’s novels is that the beginning, middle, or end is not as developed as it should be for maximum reader satisfaction.  This tome fell a teeny bit short in the end (definitely not as drawn out as the rest of the book), but I don’t think it was detrimental to the story at large.  One of his best novels to date.

The premise of the story is that one day, an invisible wall surrounds a very small town in Maine.  It reaches up to the heavens, and down toward the center of the earth.  The story is the tale of those inside the dome, for the time during which they are trapped.  Can’t say any more or I’ll give it away! Definitely a surprise (odd) ending.  A must read.
