Book Review: The Coffee Trader

By: David Liss

Rating: 4 stars.

When I started reading this book, I wasn’t entirely convinced it was for me.  As I continued reading, I became more and more wrapped up in the story, the deception, the daring, and the risk–it turned out to be a captivating story.

The book tells the story of a 1700’s futures trader who’s down on his luck.  As luck would have it, he makes the acquaintance of a seemingly well-to-do woman and they attempt to go into business together to cheat the market.  The main character risks everything he has (and then some), and the story turns into a tale of deception and risk.  Definitely worth a read, despite the slow start.
