I’m so excited to be able to introduce you to Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream. This is a new product from the Edy’s/Dreyer’s family (Edy’s for us, Dreyer’s for my West Coast friends). It has 1/3 the calories, and 1/2 the fat of traditional ice creams, and of the two flavors I tried, the vanilla is 4 weight watchers points (for a single-serve cup), and the mint chocolate chip is 5 points.
This blog tour was the first time I had heard of and tried Edy’s Slow Churned Light. I don’t eat a lot of ice cream because of Ethan’s dairy issues and because I’m on Weight Watchers, so participating in this tour was a leap of faith that I would love it, and the points would be worth it. I’m so glad I did! It was so good! This is available in 20 flavors–we tried the vanilla and mint chocolate chip, my two favorites. The vanilla was rich and creamy, with great vanilla flavor. The mint chocolate chip was really minty, and not too chocolatey–the chips were the perfect size–just the way I love my mint chocolate chip. Eric reports that the vanilla was delicious and creamy, and he wishes he had more of it. He didn’t try the mint chocolate chip–I didn’t share! (And we’ll fix his wanting more next time we’re at the store).
Aside from being a really delicious ice cream that’s reasonable in terms of calories and fat, Edy’s is turning scoops into smiles. For every smile uploaded to the Edy’s Facebook page, they are donating $5 to Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity. Their goal is to capture more than 25,000 smiles this summer, which will help deliver more than 500 reconstructive surgeries to children around the globe suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities. I encourage each of you to visit www.facebook.com/EdysIceCream to get a coupon for free ice cream and upload your smile! Every one of you can make a difference in a child’s life by uploading a picture of yourself smiling–so please join me in turning scoops into smiles!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Dreyer’s / Edy’s. I received a coupon to purchase product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

My family loves this ice cream. They’ve been eating off and on (occasionally we splurge on some Ben and Jerry’s) for years now. The Cookies n’ Cream makes excellent milkshakes.
