Last week, I read all three Hunger Games books: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. I won’t give any spoilers here, since Eric is just about to start Mockingjay.
These books are by Suzanne Collins, and if you haven’t read them, you should! They’re young adult fiction, but were a captivating read for me. I give them all five stars.
The Hunger Games is set many hundreds of years in the future, and tells the story of a young girl named Katniss Everdeen. After her sister is selected as their district’s tribute to the annual hunger games, she volunteers in young Prim’s place. The hunger games are the capitol’s annual reminder to each district that there cannot be another revolution. The hunger games pit one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts against each other–the last tribute remaining alive wins, and as their reward, is guaranteed a lifetime of wealth and excess. Katniss is a formidible opponent, given her hunting skills–but you’ll have to read the book to see what happens!
